1st Game of the Season is here!!

AFTER A PRE-SEASON of much promise, Market Bosworth manager, Mark Smith, took his team to fierce vivals Westfield Wanderers. Who hadn't beaten Bosworth in 4 years. However, it turned out to be a day to forget for the away side. Poor defending, a lack of passing and no gile up front, culminating in a less than impressive 4-1 defeat.

SHOCK RESIGNATION

After weeks of speculation, news has broken that manager, Mark Smith, has resigned after just one league game in charge of Market Bosworth 200 FC.

In a press conference at Bosworth Hall Hotel, Smith stated; 'I say this with great sadness and a heavy heart that I could not work with a Director of Football. He was making all my signings and selling all my best players on loan to obscure locations!'

'Tony Learoyd sold to Cumbria Uni, hes my top goal scorer! Josh Lewin to Bucks New Uni, hes got the best hair cut! Mitchell Brown to Softleys, hes got the biggest nose! & Phil Holdsworth to Lincoln Uni, hes.... well... hes..... no major loss! I don't feel I can trust the board any longer!'

The Bosworth Board (Tony Learoyd), hit back instantly stating; 'Smith knew perfectly well that he would have no say in any matter. I sign the players. I sell the players. I pick the starting line-up. & if the new manager don't get that then I will gun him down, coz i is a gangster!'

 TRANSFER DOOR IS WIDE OPEN

Market Bosworth 2000 FC Club Captain, Tom Alesbrook, released this statement today;

'Market Bosworth 2000 FC can confirm the signing of 3 new players. Danny, Ash and Lewis.'

'Danny is a cultured left back, bread from the Bolton Wanderers school of Excellence. Ash is a fresh, young and dynamic midfield player. Lewis can only be described as Roy Keane. He would have no problem at knocking someone 10 foot in the air and then banging in a 25 yard in the top bin!'

'These are exciting times for Bosworth and shows that the club are moving in one direction and thats to the top!'

 SIGNINGS FINALLY ARRIVE

Mark Smith has signed two more players on Sunday 17th August 2008. Andesh Matharu & Nile Taylor from Lincoln University & Leicester University respectively.

The two signings featured in the 2-0 defeat against Division 1 favourites Lutterworth 2006 FC. Both adding pace and class to an already talented Bosworth squad. However, Smith has resigned to lossing Callum Duncan for 3 weeks with work commitments.

The biggest plus is that captain marvel Tom Alesbrook is back in the hunt for goals and after banging in 20+ last season, bookies have him 4/1 favourite to be top scorer this season. David Howell is at 7/1 and new signing Callum Duncan at 10/1.

SUMMER SELLING CONTINUES

Market Bosworth FC have released a statement today, confirming the sale of Mitchell Brown to Softleys for Bacon Bap and a cup of tea.

Smith stated; 'Unfortunatley, Mitch was out of contract and Softleys are actually gonna pay him to work for them! So when they said they'd give me a Bacon Bap & a jar of rosy, I thought that sounds like a good shout!'

Team mates of Brown are said to be 'sad to see him go', assistant manager questioned Smith's selling technique's but admited 'He was off to America anyway so it looks like the gaffer got a good deal. For him!'

Market Bosworth would like to wish Mitch good luck in his attempt to earn to travelling coupons, before making his way state side.

Smith has moved quickly to fill the void, by signing winger James Humphreys. Assistant Manager, Adam Horton, stated; 'He's quick, he's got a good first touch and he can play on either wing. He's not gonna grab us 20 goals a season like Mitch, but he will grab 20 assists. This does mean Alesy will score more goals!'

Another two players have left Market Bosworth today. James Sharpe has left for a club in London, for undiscolsed fee. While Richard Kendrick has to hang up his boots due to a reoccuring knee injury.

This now leaves Smith with a very lightweight squad. Rumours around the club suggest that Adam Horton, recently made assistant manager, has scouted an exciting young striker that could push Mitch for his starting position. But the club released a statement after the departures of Sharpe and Kendrick:

'We wish James & Riches, the best of luck whatever the future might hold for them. There is no pressure for the new management team to bring new players in. We will leave those decisions to Smithy.'

END OF AN ERA

Speculation surrounding Tim Wilson's future at Market Bosworth 2000 FC came to a head at the weekend. His 8 year rein as Manager at the club finally ended, with the 6-1 demolition of Duke of Rutland.

Tim became the manager of the club in 2004, when a group of talented individuals finished school and wanted to stay together. His guidance made them a force to be reckoned with in the Youth Leagues. Then making the step up into the Hinckley & District League, they are gradually starting to show their potential.

At the end of his last game in charge Wilson made this statement:

'After four years in charge, I feel its time for me to step down. Work commitments have made it difficult to continue and I don't feel its fair on me and the boys, if I only turned up every so often. Mark Smith will take control of the team with immediate effect and I believe I have left him a solid foundation to build upon.'

New Bosworth 2000 manager, Mark Smith, added:

'Although I've been here a very short amount of time, you can see what an influenece Tim had on the team and its now time to build on what is already a very strong team.'

Club Captain Tom Alesbrook stated: 'Tim brought us all together and made us the team we are. Its now time to push forward and start bringing some trophies home'

All the lads at Market Bosworth would like to wish Tim the best of luck in the future, whatever that might hold.
