 MAN OF THE MATCH

AFTER A PRE-SEASON of much promise, Market Bosworth manager, Mark Smith, took his team to fierce vivals Westfield Wanderers. Who hadn't beaten Bosworth in 4 years. However, it turned out to be a day to forget for the away side. Poor defending, a lack of passing and no gile up front, culminating in a less than impressive 4-1 defeat.

The home side had all the possession for the first ten minutes, and when a free kick was given away by Butler from 25 yards out it looked to be no trouble. However, the scuffed free-kick went underneath the wall and squirmed under the disparing Adam Horton. It wasn't much longer until the home side were two goals to the good. Slack marking from the midfield allowed the same striker to steam through the defence and poke a right footed shot goal wards, which just crept in.

There was a glimmered of hope for Bosworth, when a surging run from Butler split the home side defence, his pass found debutant Deshoo, whos precise pass found fellow debutant, Nile Taylor. Slamming the ball home from 10 yards out. Bosworth created other chances, Deshoo blasting wide from a couple of occassions and Smith had his shot cleared off the goal line. But it was Westfield who managed to extend their lead. A poor pass from Holdsworth was gobbled up by the Westfield winger, who was allowed to shoot from 30 yards out. Slamming past the flat footed Horton.

Bosworth did try to fight back in the second half. Butler and Taylor both having chances fizz wide. Alesbrook and John Holmes both had chances cleared of the line from the corner. But once again Westfield managed to score from the break away. This time after Bosworth had their corner cleared. Slack marking and no talking to blame, when the Westfield winger crossed the ball to their unmarked striker who placed it easily past Horton.

All in all a poor performance from Market Bosworth, afterwards club captain, Tom Alesbrook spoke to Match of the Day 2; 'We are a young side. Re-building from last season. We have 4 or 5 new faces and its just getting used to how everyone plays and bringing all together. When it clicks, it'll be good'

Manager, Mark Smith, also speaking after the game said; 'Its really frustrating when you know how much talented there is in the squad, but we just need time mould together!'
