 MAN OF THE MATCH

MARK SMITH

Market Bosworth 2000 once again fail to live up to their potential, flailing to a 4-1 defeat. Adam Horton, manager of Market Bosworth 2000, describe the defeat as 'disappointing' and a 'flattering score-line for Thornton'.

The home side controlled the game for the first 30 minutes, stroking the ball around the pitch beautifully. The trio in the midfield of Duncan, Alesbrook & Plant directing the play, involving the wingers. 22 mintues into the first half and finally the home side broke the dead-lock. Matharu winning the ball and playing it wide to Smith, who cut inside and floated a defense spliting plass for Howell to chase. His majestic touch took it away from the defenders, before executing a point cross; for Tailor to bang his second of the campaign home.

Bosworth 2000 really was controlling the game, even little breaks from the away side were no contest, with Smith and Matharu tearing apart thier attacks. The only trouble was Thornton St Peters left winger, his pass found the mardy centre forward who smithy decided to hack down. The away side free-kick was dribbling into Adam Horton's hands before an untimely deflection from skipper Alesbrook, helped the ball in the back on the net. 1-1.

Just before half-time a dangerous high challange on Butler; from the obviously drugged up away side striker. Breaking Butlers ankle in 3 places (team doctor Kathy Alesbrook, has informed the press he will be out for 3-4 months).

Five minutes into the second half and it was obvious Bosworth 2000 were going to be without any luck, when Tailor went down after a challenge from behind. After the game, scans showed a stress fracture in the right foot. The game really stagnated for the home side from then on. Two of most influential players of the season so far out injuried, condemed the home side to a lack of width. With Alesbrook and Duncan on the right and left respectively, Bosworths midfield drive seemed to disappear. It wasn't long before Thornton took the lead. After a side game at left back Smith really let his side down. Matharu's inoccuous 20 yard pass right across the back line, caught Smith unaware. His poor touch let in the right winger home smashed the ball past the on rushing Horton.

Two more goals were crashed past Horton in a matter of 10 minutes. Poor tackling and a lack of tracking back the cause. Unfortunatley, Bosworth never really looked like getting back into the game. An issue that will surely worry Horton and the Bosworth faithful. THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER!
